Serial Tools for OS X, includes a Terminal Emulator, a Protocol Analyzer, and a serial port monitor to watch for connections and removals of serial ports. Serial Tools is. Select the Terminal app. In the Terminal window, enter the command: ls /dev/cu.usbserial-* In the list of connected devices, look for a device that contains cu.usbserial. You have now established a serial communication with your board. You can interact with your board by entering common Linux.

then you can read that serial port using the screen command, like this

Launch, 'Script Editor' and copy/paste in the following code:

Then, compile and run the script. Terminal will be shown with serial connection.
Additionally, you can 'Export...' the script as an Application which is very useful to run quickly.
